Where to write, who answers, and what you can expect from us.

media@blowtrumpet.com — the only address that reaches the press office. It is monitored on working days, and we aim to acknowledge within one working day and substantively answer within three. If you are working to a deadline, say so in the subject line and we will work to it.

Blowtrumpet Technologies, New Delhi, India.

How we work with journalists

Everything is on the record unless we agree otherwise before you ask the question. We will not retrospectively declare a conversation off the record because the answer was awkward, and we ask the same courtesy in reverse.

We use the standard terms in their standard meanings, agreed in advance:

  • On the record — quotable, with name and title. This is the default.
  • On background / not for attribution — usable, attributed to a described source, with the description agreed before the conversation.
  • Off the record — not for publication in any form, used to help you understand something. We use this sparingly, because a company that only speaks off the record is not saying anything.

Embargoes are offered in advance and are only in force once you have accepted them. If you cannot hold one, tell us and we will send the material afterwards instead — that is a normal answer and costs you nothing. A broken embargo ends advance access, not the relationship.

Exclusives are offered honestly: we will tell you if a story is exclusive, for how long, and to whom.

What we will do

  • Answer factual questions, including uncomfortable ones, or tell you plainly that we will not.
  • Check quotes you attribute to us, and confirm technical facts before you publish. Send them over; we would rather correct an error at draft stage than issue a statement afterwards.
  • Make named spokespeople available, with their actual role stated.
  • Put you in touch with researchers working with State of Ads, where they agree.
  • Tell you when the answer is “we don’t know” or “we won’t say”.

What we will not do

  • Pay for coverage, in money or in kind, or offer advertising in exchange for editorial treatment. If we advertise with a publication, that has no bearing on its coverage of us and we will never suggest otherwise.
  • Ask to approve your copy. We will check our own quotes and your technical facts. Your article is yours.
  • Offer gifts, trips or hospitality beyond the ordinary courtesy of a meeting. If we are ever the reason you incur a cost, we will say so in writing so you can declare it.
  • Name a client, advertiser, creator or partner without that party’s written consent, or share anything about them that is theirs to disclose.
  • Brief against competitors anonymously. If we have a view on somebody else’s product, we will say it with our name attached or not at all.

What we will not discuss while in closed testing

Blowtrumpet is in closed testing, and that sets real limits. We do not provide revenue, profitability, funding, valuation, headcount, client or creator numbers, traction figures, launch dates or roadmap detail — to anybody, including to people we are talking to seriously about investment.

We would rather give you a clear “we don’t disclose that, and here is why” than a number we cannot stand behind. Where we can point you to published research or a documented position, we will.

Corrections

If we have given you something wrong, tell us and we will confirm the correct position in writing quickly and without argument. If something published about us is factually wrong, we will write to you with the correction and our evidence, to you first and not to your editor.

Media kit and brand assets

Logos, product names, approved descriptions, spokesperson biographies and photographs: media@blowtrumpet.com.

Our marks may be used in reporting about us without permission — that is ordinary journalistic use. How they may be used in other contexts is set out in our Editorial Guidelines.

Also useful

State of Ads, our industry connect programme, runs research, roundtables and events, and is often the better starting point for a story about the industry rather than about us. Some sessions run under the Chatham House Rule, which we will always flag before you walk in. research@stateofads.com

Security disclosures do not go to the press office in the first instance. Please write to security@blowtrumpet.com; we respond to good-faith reports and do not pursue researchers who give us reasonable time.

Advertising standards. We support self-regulation of advertising in India and engage with the Advertising Standards Council of India framework. If you are reporting on a disclosure or labelling question, ask us directly — we would rather explain our practice than have it inferred.
