How to apply
The application process
The same process applies to open roles and to the fellowship.
We ask for more than a CV, deliberately. A CV tells us where you have been.
The essays tell us how you think, which is the part we cannot get anywhere else.
What to send
- The application form, including your CV.
- Essay one — statement of purpose. Why Blowtrumpet, why advertising
technology, and how you think it differs from adjacent industries in ways that interest you. - Essay two — your workflow in the age of emerging technology. Where you
think AI is heading, how you use it in your own work today, and a real example of something that
went wrong and what you did about it. - Essay three — gamification. What it means to you, a real example you have
seen or built, what the loop looks like, and how you would use it to make something genuinely
engaging.
On using AI to write them
You may. If you do, tell us which tools, what you asked them, and whether you agree with what
came back. If you did not, tell us that too. Neither answer counts against you; concealing it
would.
Things worth addressing
These are prompts rather than a second form. Use the ones that help.
- How do you keep up with the industry, and where do you read?
- Describe how you troubleshoot something you do not understand yet.
- Do you stream or make content? What does your production workflow look like?
- Do you play games? Which, how often, and what are you playing for?
- Sketch a gamification loop for an advertising context — checkpoints, endpoints, rewards,
and how you would measure whether it worked. - Where would you like to be in three to five years, and how does this fit?
After you apply
We try to respond early to complete applications. Because of the volume we receive, we are
often only able to reply to shortlisted candidates. You can ask about your application at
